Welcome to OilyBlog.
Welcome to Oily Blog- the website dedicated to Christian guys who are totally nuts about cars. The aim is to bring like-minded guys together through a specific website where interests can be shared, ideas can be voiced and events can be organised.
Oily Blog is one of very few websites of its kind, and as such is breaking new ground. We're giving you the opportunity to have your say about what you are interested in, and what you want to see happen. It is trying to dispel the preconceived idea that Christian men hug trees, drive 2 CV’s and wear opentoed sandals with socks!! It is also trying to show that it is okay as a Christian to talk about bhp, piston rings, con rods, dump valves, split rims and cars in general.
It is hoped that by creating a forum for discussion, men from across the UK can come together to talk about what they're interested in, and support one another in attending mainstream car events such as track days, tunnel runs and shows where they can live out their Christian witness and show those that they come into contact with that there really is more to life!
Everyone involved in Oily Blog will have their own interests, and it's hoped can build up a group of people with whom they can share those interests. Events will be organized to bring people together, but it's equally fine to have smaller local meets as well. All we ask is that everyone is kept informed, so that they have the chance to attend.
To move things forward we've created a forum where you can register a username, post your messages and get things started. Please do get involved- there are thousands of car nuts out there that could have their lives changed by coming into contact with a Christian guy who has interests similar to their own and is prepared to stand up and be counted.
So get posting, and let’s see where it takes us!
The B-Road Challenge
In addition, we've now also started planning an event called The B-Road Challenge, whose aim is to raise as much money for charity as possible. The first part of the challenge is to buy a classic car for under £3000. We've been able to buy a sixteen year old Mini Cooper, and hope to make it into a 1968-69 replica.
Once that's done, the second part of the challenge will be to go from East Dereham in Norfolk to Norwich. Doesn't sound like much? Well, the route will include Birmingham, Exmouth, Leeds, Lincoln, Liverpool, London, Manchester, and Newcastle! And if that's not enough, we'll only be using ‘B’ roads - and we plan to do the entire journey in just seven days...
We'll be keeping things up to date at the B-Road challenge pages as the challenge progresses.
